Connect the right technology with needs at the right time
We are a new platform working for the advancement of innovative environmental technologies that aims to facilitate the dialogue on sustainable development between technology holders, consumers and local stakeholders. We seek to connect the right technologies at the right time for the right places.
Autopia is an international project for the advancement and better access to innovative environmental technologies. Our work aims to foster technology transfer, redefine practices, inter-party cooperation and knowledge exchange. We seek to promote cities’ success stories regarding sustainable development and share Europe’s best operational management practice with emergent and developing countries. The idea is to use these technologies to create “green cities” that would both improve their inhabitants’ quality of life and develop society in an environmentally sustainable way. Autopia’s project consists in two mechanisms: (1) setting up an international online platform to link emerging technologies and consumers, and (2) showcase these technologies through demonstrating events.
Committed to the world’s changes:
We have always been interested and involved in events at the international level. Meetings between innovative companies and their potential customers is both achieved virtually through our Internet platform, but also physically at forums organized several times a year in different countries. Autopia goes beyond simply linking stakeholders and selecting the upstream profiled companies. Their innovations should be relevant and their implementation mastered. Hence, Autopia aims to be more than an online trading platform: we seek to contribute to the worldwide discussion on climate change. This is why we have always managed to attend the most important forums and discussion panels on climate change all around the world. Furthermore, we have also managed to obtain labeling from the United Nation’s COP21 as well as accreditation to organize side events within the COP’s framework. Within these side events, we invite prominent actors of climate change as well as industrials to discuss the impact of the green economy on the environment.
We won’t overcome the climate change’s risks without green technologies, and humanity:
We believe that green technologies, and especially innovations are the most efficient solutions to answer the urgent issues posed by crisis and emergency situations especially for energy saving, We created the Green Refugees project not only to prove that these technologies can help the neediest, but also to show that it is possible to build an appropriate answer to refugee crisis and mass displacement with clean technologies. Our ultimate goal is to create a pattern, a replicable and flexible model of camp made out of these technologies in order to provide a fast, solid answer to refugee emergencies.
What we do - #GreenRefugees
We are currently working on a pilot project in Myrsini, Greece. Today, there are 350 refugees in the camp (of which approximately 220 are children), but the total situation in Greece is much bigger, as there are more than 20,000 refugees total in Greece. We are working with the UNHCR. If the project turns out to be a success, it might as well be applied to the entire country's refugees, and lastly to the total amount of refugees the Syrian has made - about 3.7M people. The current impact is 350 persons. Then 20.000 And potentially the totality of the Syrian refugee camps. Among the issues addressed by the refugee camps, the most important one remains education and the schooling system. We want to build a school infrastructure in relation with the environment, and bring more than alphabetization to the children: a real, conscious understanding of the environmental issues, and insert them into a social and economic model where the green economics are their best way to thrive in the future's society. Autopia already maintains professional relationships with major industrial and small innovators. The project also has the support of local communities, Greek and some organizations such as the French government and some UN bodies. Finally, we remain in regular contact with many epistemic communities. Our approach seeks to be innovative, environmentally responsible, committed and international. Also, we are working to produce and communicate in English, French and Arabic.
Trying to be ahead of time
Aside from the energy transition will be the consequences of climate change caused by human activity. We remain optimistic concerning the handling of climate change. Nonetheless, we want to combine the benefits from technology evolution and energy transition to address critical issues such as population displacement from armed conflict or natural catastrophe, and more specifically at local levels. Likewise, we believe the most affected are the children. This is why we will implement school infrastructures adapted to the conditions of these children, their trauma, and addressing the problematiques of the future. In order to achieve this goal, we aim to build replicable camps. Models that would be flexible to fit future emergencies. Thus, we want to address such problems through such camps that would always be implemented after demonstration camp's technologies approval and certification. Our project "GreenRefugees" project is therefore a pilot; a living experience designed to improve conditions for refugees in Myrsini, in order to subsequently develop sufficient experience to be able to pass this model of camps in other parts of Greece and finally the world. We are also currently working on a prototype in China.
