Continuing on with my video interview series with Dr Nawal Al Hosany, director of sustainability at Masdar and director of the Zayed Future Energy Prize, this next video features her discussing how critical the youth component of the Zayed Future Energy Prize is, including the involvement of UAE leadership in requesting and growing this portion of the prize.
Personally, the extensive focus on high school students around the world is one of the things that really excites me about the Zayed Future Energy Prize. What other prize of this scale and prestige puts so much emphasis on the youth, and puts them on the same stage as heads of state and CEOs of some of the largest corporations in the world? Furthermore, it is not just an opportunity for privileged students from rich countries to shine -- students and schools from some of the poorest countries and communities in the world have been finalists and winners, and a good bit of money is going to help such places achieve a higher standard of living via clean energy solutions and human empowerment. It's genuinely inspirational.
Anyhow, I encourage you to watch the video above to get more history, context, and enthusiasm from Dr Al Hosany.
