Is driving your electric vehicle really green?

Going electric for your car is a great start to become more sustainable but is it really much cleaner than the fossil-fuel powered alternative? It depends on where exactly you are charging your electric vehicle!

According to the international energy agency and a recent Bloomberg study, everything depends on how you produce your electricity. In the world, if an electric car is recharged on the grid, it is producing, on average, 90 gr of CO2 per km. For some other countries, it is even more because the power generation comes from fuel combustion. Thus an electric car can produce the same amount of GES as a small diesel at the end.

Those analyses on the electric mix are critical while we are promoting and developing electric solutions recharged everywhere across the world. The different motor shows in the world and most particularly the last one in Paris, show that the demand is going to take off in the next few years. And all the car manufacturers are definitely betting on it for the future. The electric car growth will increase the power need on the grid. Understanding global warming pollution, in both power generation and transport, is key to make sure we are truly sustainable for the planet and changing for an electric transport is really making a difference.
